These are exciting times for the Revolution eMedia team! For quite some time now we have been working to develop an incredible App that brings ‘Augmented Reality’ to science and history education. For several years now, we have been deeply involved in immersive media like Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), and we are confident in our ability to maximize the learning experience, encourage engagement, and stimulate imaginations of all ages.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term ‘Augmented Reality,’ it is a process that enhances a person’s perception of reality by integrating digital information with the user’s experience in ‘real time.’ Unlike ‘virtual reality’ (which creates a totally artificial environment), AR uses the existing environment and overlays new information on top of it. It taps into our senses of seeing, hearing, feeling, and connects those senses to powerful experiences that translate into a compelling learning moment.
Our most ambitious project to date, the LearnMore™ App, is now poised to revolutionize the learning experience – for all stages of life – and I am reaching out to you and the rest of my friends, family and associates to consider supporting us in this effort.
Each of our six interactive posters that work with the LearnMore™ App takes a scientific topic, relates it to an invention and inventor, and provides an unforgettable, historical and scientific interactive experience. You can learn more about Thomas Edison’s lightbulb, the inner-workings of a Model T Ford, the basics of human anatomy, the Wright Brothers historic airplane, the fundamentals of the Constitution, or even the magical symmetry of the solar system!
The LearnMore™ App can be used on phones or tablets, allowing you to interact with our printed posters and discover a whole world of hidden knowledge on the screen of your devices. By simply pointing a smart phone or tablet toward these interactive posters, you can watch them ‘come to life’ with interactive elements, 3d animations, educational videos – even virtual reality!
Our goal is to raise enough money to complete the content and software development and fund large print runs of the interactive posters so that they can be affordable for use in STEM programs, museum programs and other programs that seek to maximize learning for the greatest number of people. Your support will help us promote science and history education by engaging learners everywhere!
We are particularly interested in seeing our LearnMore™ App applied to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education, which is so vital to our future—the future of our country, the future of our region and the future of our children. By 2018, more than 2 million STEM jobs in the U.S. will remain unfilled because there won’t be qualified candidates to fill them. A strong foundation in STEM breeds innovation, ideas and progress. In a time of intense global competition, the U.S. has the potential to lead once more. The LearnMore™ App and interactive posters could be an important tool in enriching the STEM curriculum.
Right now, we are self-producing the app, posters and content and need your help getting this project fully funded. Once fully funded, we will begin donating sets of posters to schools in underserved communities.
We will soon be launching a Kickstarter campaign to complete the project. Our Kickstarter campaign will begin May 1st. The months following will be spent on creative production and refinement of the App, posters, CG animation and 3D modeling. During those months, we will also be marketing to publishers, schools and the education community through newspapers, radio, social media and blogs. Finally, posters will be printed and shipped within 3 months of the Kickstarter completion!
The future of the LearnMore™ App projects depends on the generosity of supporters and donors. Please join us in our effort to lead next generation of knowledge! We will not stop with just these six posters. Once this set is launched, we will work on six more – and six more after that – and six more after that. This commitment to furthering education through technology is our highest priority!
